The term Internet telephony (=VoIP calls) specifically refers to the provisioning of communications services over the public Internet, rather than via the public switched telephone network (PSTN), i.e. traditional telephony. The steps and principles involved in originating VoIP telephone calls are similar to traditional digital telephony. Instead of being transmitted over a circuit-switched network, however, the digital information is packetized and transmission occurs as Internet Protocol (IP) packets over a packet-switched network.
Before being able to use Misterfone you have to register free of charge under this link. You have to provide the following information:

  • Email address
  • Password (minimum 6 characters, obligatory use of letters AND numbers. Do not include blank spaces)
  • Country of residence: We need to verify that the country of residence provided during the registration process and the one registered in your PayPal account are the same.
    Also, This information is required to enable you to call local numbers in your phone’s address book through the app without having to introduce the international prefix

  • If you are an Android user, you may also register directly from the application. You can download it here.

    For the moment it is not possible to register from the Misterfone application for iPhone.
    In order to allow you to top up your account we need to verify that the country of residence provided during the registration process and the one registered in your PayPal account are the same.

    Also, selecting your country during registration enables you to call local numbers in your phone’s address book through the app without having to introduce the country code.

  • You can top up your credit balance with your PayPal account. Your payment is handled by PayPal who will always send you a confirmation email. You will also receive a separate confirmation email from Misterfone.

    In order to be able to top up your account the country registered in your PayPal account must be the same as the one provided during the registration process with Misterfone.

    For the moment it is not possible to top up the credit balance directly from the Misterfone application for iPhone. You can, however, top up your balance through your mobile browser on your iPhone at: www.misterfone.com

    PayPal is a global leader in online payment solutions. PayPal allows users to make payments and transfers through the Internet without having to share their financial information with the addressee.     Misterfone applies the appropriate sales tax that corresponds to the Member State where the customer has his or her permanent address or usually resides on all top-ups made by anyone within the European Union.

    Unless otherwise indicated all the call rates are expressed in Euros and do not include any applicable taxes or levies.

    Yes, for reasons of security we have established a daily maximum top up limit of €15 (VAT not included) and a monthly maximum top up limit of €75 (VAT not included).
    This (temporary) charge of €1 is made by PayPal to validate the credit card with which you have made the payment and it will be returned to you in a few days. PayPal’s explanation is the following:

    “This is a temporary withholding of €1 that is made as part of the credit card authorisation process. This amount will appear again as a positive amount in your credit card balance once the temporary hold is released.

    Whenever a customer adds a new credit card to their PayPal account or whenever the details of one that is already entered are updated, our credit card processor posts a temporary charge in your account as part of the authorisation process of the card in our system. This process will be applied whether you have a PayPal account open or you want to complete a payment without having registered an account.”
    Each time you top up you will receive an email from PayPal and another one from Misterfone confirming the top up, showing the most important information of the operation (amount, date, etc.).
    Your balance expires 12 months after you have made your last top up. At that time your balance will be set to zero.
    You can access your recent call list with the individual calls and their costs in the Misterfone application under the section “Recents”.

    The total cost of a call is the sum of the cost per minute of the destination, plus the call set-up fee of 4.9 cents per call. Calls are charged in complete minutes from the first second.

    If the top seems to have gone through correctly but the credit balance is not updated, please send us an e-mail to payments@misterfone.com to let us know, Please indicate: your name and e-mail address with which you registered and the reference number that we sent you in the payment confirmation e-mail.
    Register with Misterfone and you will receive a free credit balance to cover your first calls.
    To receive the free credit balance it is necessary to be a new Misterfone user and to use the application on a device (telephone or tablet) on which it has not been used previously.

    No, Misterfone does not offer free calls between users.
    You can reset your password through the link “Forgot your password?” that appears on the access screen of the application or, alternatively, from a web browser through this link.
    Yes, you can access your Misterfone account with your e-mail and password from different mobile devices but not at the same time.
    Yes, all you need is a working Internet connection on your mobile device (WiFi or 3G/4G) in order to call. Remember that your mobile operator may apply data roaming charges if you use a 3G or 4G data connection outside your home country.
    Open the Misterfone application on your mobile device, go to Settings / Feedback and send us an email with “Account cancelation” in the subject.

    Once we have cancelled your account we will send you a confirmation email.
